Organisation Description

Atos Research & Innovation (ARI), node of R&D at Atos Origin S.a.e, is an innovation reference point for the whole Atos Origin group. It focuses on projects combining research and development with business exploitation of the results. Within the Consulting and Public Sector business unit, the Atos Research and Innovation group concentrates on international projects that combine the latest technological developments with high awareness of human factors (education sciences, disability-related issues, cultural diversity, and multilinguality).

AeroSpace and Defense Industries (ASD) is the outgrowth of a merger between AECMA, EDIG and EUROSPACE representing 32 associations from 20 countries across Europe and more than 800 companies that employ nearly 600,000 highly qualified people. Thus ASD represents a significant share of EU industries at the forefront of technology, including the security s. ASD is reinforcing its pivotal role on security issues, with regard to ESRP and other Security activities at the European level, proposing the creation and its direct participation to EOS (European Organisation on Security).

The Security Solutions and Services division has created ThereSIS, a research laboratory dedicated to developing security technologies to protect people, property and critical information systems. By playing a major role in the national programs launched by French authorities to modernize the state, specifically the tax portal and electronic medical record system, Thales has acquired unrivalled experience, making it one of Europe’s foremost providers of e-government solutions. ThereSIS aims to consolidate and expand this capacity to manage complex electronic systems used by millions of citizens. ThereSIS focus into a number of key areas, starting with architectures for Web-based services (SOA, Peer2Peer, Grid, ICT convergence, etc.).

Stiftelsen SINTEF is an independent research foundation based in Trondheim and Oslo (Norway) employing around 1900 people. Contract research carried out by SINTEF covers all scientific and technical areas, and ranges from basic research through applied research to commercialisation of results into new products and business ideas, for both the domestic and international markets. SINTEF is represented in this consortium by SINTEF ICT, the department specialising in information and communications technology. SINTEF ICT has extensive experience in information security, and hosted the Norwegian National Centre for Information Security (SIS) from its inception in 2002 until the end of 2005.

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (FHG) is Germany’s leading organization for applied research and undertakes contract research on behalf of industry, the service sector and government. Contracted by industry clients, it provides rapid, cost effective and immediately applicable solutions to technical and organizational problems. Within the framework of the European Union's technology programs, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is actively involved in industrial consortiums pursuing technical solutions to improve European industry’s competitiveness.

The National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA) is a non-profit organization specialized in aerospace research and technological development. The institute provides technical assessments to authorities and national industry. Its aerospace activities pursue three main directions: R&D activities of defense interest; R&D activities in the civilian sector, specifically technologies under the ambit of the Ministry of Defense’s R&D plan, the national RD&I plan and the European Union’s framework programs; and National and international testing, experimentation, certification and technical support activities.

Elsag Datamat is the new business concern established to act as a centre of excellence for the design and production of systems, services and solutions in automation, security, transport, defence & space, information technology. Resulting from the integration of Elsag and Datamat in 2007, Elsag Datamat is a company in Finmeccanica group, one of the world's leading industrial conglomerates.
The professional skills of 4,000 employees, technology, know-how, the capacity to operate in critical contexts, and an innovative approach demonstrated by constant investment in Research & Development, are just some of the distinctive features developed over more than a century in business. The ability to identify problems and design solutions, combined with skills and experience in mechanical and information technology, put Elsag Datamat in the ideal position to develop new products and systems as it works to achieve its goal of Italian leadership and global recognition on reference markets.
Elsag Datamat has many years' experience working in Defence and Security sectors on the development of complex systems for Italian and international programmes, as part of leading industrial consortia and in the framework of cooperation agreements with Italian and international institutions, including the Italian Ministry of Defence, National Police Forces and the European Commission.
Elsag Datamat works in all Defence sectors in which information technology is a strategic, empowering factor: combat management, mission planning, logistics, simulation and training. On the Security side, the company can satisfy the special protection needs of large-scale critical infrastructure systems in Public Administration, National Security Agencies, Police Forces, Transport.

Asociación de Empresas de Electrónica, Tecnologías de la Información y Telecomunicaciones de España (AETIC) is composed of more than 1,000 associated companies from the sector, which conduct industrial activity or provide electronics and telecommunications services within Spain or other EC countries. Between 70 and 80% of these companies are SME. AETIC mainly concentrates of networking, gathering information and dissemination.
AETIC has extensive experience with technological platforms. In 2005 it launched four national technological platforms: eNEM, eMOV, eISI and eSEC, successfully organizing the concerted collaboration of all the Spanish entities working in each of these fields. So far, over one hundred national organizations have joined each of the platforms. eSEC now consists of more than 140 entities organized in six working groups. AETIC also represents some 700 SMEs always bearing their needs in mind and striving to improve them.

The Fondazione Rosselli’s primary objective is to conduct fundamental and applied research activities in fields related to economics, society and politics and in particular national and European public policies. In addition to its academic objectives, the Fondazione has long played a role as a think tank for the principal Italian and European governmental institutions for which shares its knowledge and provides analyses. Public administration and public services, communications and media, technological innovation and competitiveness, research and education, finance and cultural assets are the areas of analysis at the Fondazione Rosselli.

The European Organization for Security (EOS) is run as a non- profit organization and members have one share each with equal voting rights. EOS already represents 25 Members from 11 European Countries in different sectors of relevance for the security market. Membership is being enlarged to increase user and operator representativeness and add SME as well as a wider number of European Member States and Associate Countries.
It encourages the creation of National Security Platforms and establishment of a European Network of National Security Platforms adjunct to EOS to linking different local/national security needs and solutions in a wider European approach. EOS also supports its members and the European Commission in the work of European Security Research and Innovation Forum ESRIF by linking the demand side with the supply chain and by supporting its activity across sectors.
