Project Overview
STRAW
is a C.S.A. project funded under the Security Research theme (FP7-SEC-2007-7.0-01 “Technology Watch”) that aims at providing a European Service of Technology Watch on Security Technologies.
STRAW intends to enhance the European civil security by facilitating cooperation between providers and users of civil security information. This mission will be accomplished by enabling the research community, authorities and the general public to take advantage of relevant and applicable security technology developments.
In addition the concept of STRAW is to bring together the defense and security research industry by a neutral coordination to ensure the awareness of underpinning technologies that make possible the implementation of civil security applications.
The most tangible results of STRAW are:
- STRAW Website to increase awareness of industry and defense research related to European security
- STRAW Network to enhance cooperation between Member States and Associated Countries as well as EU organizations in the industry and defense research community
- STRAW panel to identify opportunities for and constraints on developing and strengthening markets related to European security and even provide input on futures security-themed programs and their implementation
The project started on 1 October 2008 and will run until May 2010 (20 months)
